theBalm Black Tie Kit FOTD Look

Hey everyone!

So I start class a little later on Mondays which gives me more time to get ready and put some effort into my makeup. I decided to use all the makeup products that I just got in my T.J. Maxx Haul (and if you haven't seen that one it's right here and it will give you an idea of what the colors look like in the containers). There was a little step by step guide on the back of the box for how and where to use each product. I more or less followed that since it was just basic techniques, but the colors were so much prettier on and with a primer under them. Just perfect colors for me since my go-to look is a brown smokey eye.
So it's a simple application for all the products. I applied some of my Urban Decay Primer Potion and then the Shameless Shana on my lid. I then blended the Caught in the Act Courtney into my crease and used a little of it to line my top lid and under my lower lash line. Since the No Money, No Honey mineral shadow is to be used over the regular shadows, I applied it in the middle of my lids and a bit as a brow highlight. I then curled my lashes and applied the Cheater! mascara, which, by the way, is fantastic! It reminds me a lot of the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes formula and the wand is HUGE! If this stuff were a little cheaper, I might make the switch, but my L'Oréal Voluminous will do for now. And that was all for the eyes. I applied the Hot Mama! blush (my new holy grail blush!) on my cheeks and the Balm Shelter gloss on my lips. That's it! Super easy!
Overall, I am BEYOND impressed with the quality of these products! I am loving this brand so much and want to buy all of their products. I hope you guys liked this look as simple as it was and have a good rest of the week! I'll be extra busy with school and exams. :/

Until next time,

T.J. Maxx Haul Part 2- Makeup, Nails, and Hair

Hey everyone!

If you haven't checked out part one of this haul the link is here. It's the clothes and accessories part of my haul and an explanation as to why this is in two parts to begin with.

Alright, so the whole reason I went into T.J. Maxx was to see if I could find any products from theBalm. I had seen so many people who had gotten AMAZING deals on sets there and I just had to see if I was lucky enough to find one too. And guess what?? I DID! It was hidden away in a sad corner, but I found it and immediately put it in my cart. It needed a good home and I was just the person to give it that. This set is the Black Tie Kit and is amazing! So well rounded to create an awesome look and comes with SEVEN full sized products! I'll go one by one on the breakdown.

First thing is their Hot Mama! blush. It is a beautiful peach-pink hue and has a bit of shimmer to it. The packaging says this can be used as an eyeshadow as well and I might just take them up on that claim. It is just so pretty and reminds me of NARS' Orgasm blush. Price wise, this blush alone would cost me $19.

Next products are two of their Shady Lady pressed powder shadow/liners. These retail for $16 each and I received the colors Caught in the Act Courtney and Shameless Shana. The Courtney shade is a deep chocolate brown with a bronze shimmer in it. I love brown and neutral shadows, so this one is a HUGE hit as a crease color for me. The Shana color is a dark bronze color and is equally as gorgeous as the other color included. This is also one of the shades that MyGlam had sent out in their January bag, but I didn't get a shadow that month. These shadows are ones I can see myself reaching for all the time and I am so thrilled to have them!

Next product included is a product called Overshadow and it is designed to do just that. It is a super fine milled mineral shimmer that you put over your shadows as a highlight and boost. This is in the color No Money, No Honey. The color is fantastic. It is extremely shimmery as to be expected and is in a light golden honey color. It swatched so smoothly and I am interested in how this will make my shadows POP like it claims. Also, this product is $15.

Next product is a nail polish from their Hot Ticket line. This was the product that I received in my January MyGlam bag from theBalm, only in a different color. I loved the formula of these polishes, but the $10 price tag is a little steep for my taste. I am so happy to have another one of these polishes though and in the color Better Off Red, which is a true pin-up girl red. And believe it or not, I don't have a single red polish in my collection.

The last two products are the Cheater! Volumizing Mascara in Black and the Balm Shelter tinted lip gloss in Pin Up Girl. These retail for $18 and $19 respectively. The mascara seems extremely promising. It has a great big brush and the formula seems just about perfect. I love mascara. It is the one beauty product I could never live without, so I am more than happy to give this product a try. The lip gloss is in beautiful red tint and when applied is not sticky like regular glosses either. The color is super sheer, but build-able and looks really great with my fair skin! Very happy! So if we're keeping track that total came to $113 retail and I got this set for $12!! I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked at the price tag!

Now onto the non-Balm products, the next purchase that I made was also hidden away in that same sad corner. I found two color cubes from Essie in their summer and wedding collections for 2011. I love sets like these since I never use a full bottle of polish anyways. The colors in these two boxes are awesome and I can't wait to try them out. In the wedding collection, the four colors were Maid of Honor (Light Nude Cream), First Dance (Red-ish Pink), Borrowed & Blue (Light Baby Blue Cream), and Better Together (Light Pink Cream). My favorite just from looks in the bottle is probably Borrowed & Blue. In the summer collection, the colors were Meet Me at Sunset (Bright Tangerine Orange), Smooth Sailing (Periwinkle with blue and pink shimmer), Braziliant (Traffic Cone Orange with Pink Shimmer), and Super Bossa Nova (Bright Fuschia Pink with pink shimmer). I love all of these ones, but my favorite was Super Bossa Nova. Gorgeous summer color! I snagged these cuties for $9 each when they are regularly $17. Best way for me to add to my polish stash and try out new colors all in one!

The last item I picked up, I know this is never ending, but it is a thermal protectant spray by Rusk for when I flat iron my hair. I have been wanting a bottle of this stuff forever and my sister has it and wouldn't let me steal it! ;) I LOVE this stuff, it smells amazing and works even better! My hair always ends up silky smooth and gorgeous after using it! I picked this up for $9 when I could only ever find it for $20 anywhere else! So happy with this one and my sister is jealous of the deal that I got.

This was a great shopping trip for me, even if I ended up spending way more than I anticipated! I definitely suggest anyone to visit their local T.J. Maxx and see if you can get any of these great products for yourself!

Check out Part One!

Until next time,

T.J. Maxx Haul Part 1- Clothing and Accessories

Hey everyone!

Alright, so I know this is way late in the game, but I never realized how AMAZING T.J. Maxx is! I went in there to see if I could find any products by theBalm and left with so much stuff! I'm in love, that's for sure! I decided to split this up into two sections because this post was going to be way too  picture heavy all in one. So I decided to make one for the clothing and accessory purchases and one for the makeup, nail, and hair purchases. Let's start with the former since there are only three things in this part.

The first is the shirt that I just happened upon. I usually don't try on such bright clothes, but I was thinking ahead into the future for summer and this is the perfect summer color. I tried it on and fell in love. I have never been someone who looks good in patterned clothes, so the color blocking on this shirt was just enough of a quirk without going overboard. It's a gorgeous coral color with tan and navy fabric on the sides and a navy sash to tie around it. It's a super light fabric and tunic style. I can't wait for it to warm up finally so I have an opportunity to wear this and it was only $16!

Second item was another one that I was looking ahead to summer with. I am going to be doing a bit of traveling this summer and needed a smaller purse with a long strap for when we are out and about. This one caught my eye immediately because of the colors mostly. I love greens and blues and with it mixed with the tan colors, I fell in love. It's got a long dark blue strap and three inner pouches. It is the PERFECT size for traveling lightly with just my phone, wallet, and camera. This one was also only $16 and originally $55!

Last item was something I have been needing for a while and it was a new wallet. I am currently using the rattiest old wristlet at the moment and its disintegrating before my eyes. I found this one and it just so happened to have the same pattern as the purse, so SCORE! haha It's deceivingly compact and folds out to have 15 card slots, two money flaps and a zippered pouch. Along with a zippered outside pouch. It's also in a gorgeous coral colar as well. This one was $12 and originally $68!

All in all, I loved all my purchases and the amazing deals I got on them. I also just noticed as I put those pictures up that I seem to have shopped with a very strict color scheme in mind. Completely subconscious, but they all tie together really nicely! :D

Check out Part Two as well to see the makeup, nail, and hair deals I got!

See you soon!
